What are torque meters?

Torque meters are instruments that precisely measure the torque applied to an object. Torque is the rotating force applied to an object to turn or move it. In industry, they are often used to measure the torque of industrial tightening tools

How are torque meters used in industry?

In the manufacturing industry, torque meters are used to ensure that screws, bolts and other fasteners are tightened to the correct torque, ensuring product quality and safety. In the automotive industry, they ensure that assemblies are fitted correctly, while in the electronics industry they precisely tighten tiny screws to produce electronic devices.

Torque measuring devices are also of crucial importance in materials testing and in the aerospace industry. They help with the incoming goods inspection for fasteners. They also play a role in the calibration of tools such as torque wrenches to ensure accurate measurements or to check the machine capability of rotating tightening tools.

They are used in these industrial sectors:

Automotive industry

Mechanical engineering

Aerospace industry

Intelligent torque sensors

The intelligent torque sensors are precise and compact. With strain gauge-based technology and high-resolution incremental encoders, they enable precise rotation measurements, for example of industrial cordless screwdrivers. They offer versatile interfaces such as USB, Ethernet and RS-485, and some models have mechanical overload protection.

These sensors are supplied with power via the USB interface. The HST Torq Analyzer software enables the recording of torque/angle of rotation and torque/time curves as well as the display of speed over time. With an impressive sampling rate of 2,000 readings per second and the ability to set up two limit monitoring windows, they are ideal for demanding torque testing.

HST models in our range:

HST-TTS & eTTS

Torque Transducer Static (eTTS = economy version, small and very compact design): Static sensor, torque-time measurement

HST-TTR & eTTR

Torque Transducer Rotary (eTTR = economy version): Rotary sensor, measurement of torque-time-angle + speed or power

HST-PK set

Mobile measuring case set for torque transducers

FAQ - Frequently asked questions and answers

Are the torque measuring devices really Made in Germany?
Yes! Our products are developed and manufactured in the Black Forest.

Are the torque measuring devices really the most precise sensors on the market?
Yes, our rotary sensors in particular use a special data processing technology that enables digital conversion of the analog signals directly on the rotating measuring shaft. In addition, optoelectronic data transmission is used to forward the data. This results in completely new application possibilities, lower losses, higher accuracies and a wider range of applications.

Do the torque measuring devices work without a display and evaluation unit?
Yes! The measured values are digitized in the sensor and can be transmitted directly via USB, Ethernet or serial. Your laptop or even cell phone can be used as a display. The data can be transferred directly to the system control and processed further if the sensors are integrated in a production system.

Is there a good price-performance ratio, despite leading technology?
Yes, we rely on the best advice, first-class products and long-term partnerships. We are not greedy for profit like some large companies.

Can the sensors be DAkkS-calibrated?
Yes, our technology has even been put through its paces by the PTB (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt) in Braunschweig, where it was met with great enthusiasm.

What can I do if the sensors are defective?
You can send the sensors to our Service Center for repair at any time. Contact us for an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) at repaircenter@hs-technik.com or directly via our online RMA form.

How can I program the sensors?
Our Torq Analyzer software is available for this purpose. The sensors can be programmed or activated either via the software or via external control.
