High-precision torque measuring devices for industry

Torque measurement technology for your industry

It is impossible to imagine modern industry without torque measurement technology, which has a very wide range of applications: the rotating forces of tightening tools are made measurable, which ensures that screws or bolts, for example, are actually fitted with the defined torque. This has a direct impact on product quality and product safety. As HS-Technik, we offer high-precision torque measuring devices that help you to monitor operating processes, predict failures and thus safeguard your production processes.visit our product page and find what you are looking for.what can you expect?

Torque transducers and torque sensors

How does the torque measurement work?

Torque is a physical quantity that describes the extent of the rotational effect around an axis. It is the product of the applied force (Newton) and the distance to the axis of rotation (meter) and is specified in Newton meters (Nm).

Different technologies and methods are used in torque measurement technology depending on the requirements. All of the torque measuring devices we offer are strain gauge-based.

Strain gages (DMS):

The effect of the torque via the torque transducer (also torque transducer or sensor) causes deformation of the strain gauge. This leads to a change in the electrical resistance of the strain gauge; this change is measured and converted.

Piezoelectric sensors:

They convert mechanical deformations into electrical signals.

Magnetostrictive sensors:

Magnetic materials deform under the influence of a magnetic field due to the placement of a magnetostrictive element.

Optical sensors:

Light barriers, laser sensors or other optical measuring devices monitor the deformation of a rotating part.

Electromagnetic sensors:

They measure the change in the magnetic field caused by the movement of a magnetic rotor connected to the torque to be measured.

Depending on the requirements for factors such as accuracy, measuring range requirements, etc., different (sometimes several) sensors or measuring devices are combined depending on the measuring method.

Torque measurement technology from HS-Technik: also suitable for your industry?

Quality-conscious companies from a wide range of industries have been relying on the innovative and reliable torque measurement technology from HS-Technik since 1986. For high-precision measurements of various tightening devices on their assembly and production systems.

What we do, we do with perfection

Quality assurance plays a decisive role in the development of measurement technology. Our torque measuring devices are therefore subject to strict process monitoring and quality control and are certified in cooperation with the Federal Physical-Technical Institute in Braunschweig in cooperation with the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt Braunschweig.

Why the decision to use systems from HS-Technik is a good one:

Torque measurement is a complex subject? We keep it as simple and straightforward as possible:
  • Integrated network connection
  • without external control, additional display device or measuring duplicator: directly connected to computer or system control via our HST-Torq-Analyzer software
  • Connection via USB or Ethernet: no additional cable type
  • Compact design
  • Torque window monitoring
  • Mechanical overload protection

Our intelligent torque sensors are precise and compact. With strain gauge-based technology and high-resolution incremental encoders, they enable precise rotation measurements, for example of industrial cordless screwdrivers.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions and answers

Torque measuring devices are also of crucial importance in materials testing and in the aerospace industry. They help with the incoming goods inspection for fasteners. They also play a role in the calibration of tools such as torque wrenches to ensure accurate measurements or to check the machine capability of rotating tightening tools.
Torque meters are instruments that precisely measure the torque applied to an object. Torque is the rotating force applied to an object to turn or move it. In industry, they are often used to measure the torque of industrial tightening tools.
